- An early 19th century Burmese style
An early 19th century Burmese style red and green stained carved ivory chess set the kings queens and bishops carved with masks Kings 4.5ins Estimate ?300-500 Green stained set the crown and cross final on the queen is a different colour a sort of chocolate brown compared to the green of the rest of the set however the carving is good and does seem to match on the portrait mask and has certainly been with this for a long time however it is just sightly smaller than the corresponding crown on the red stained piece. Does appear to be a white body under this and is most probably ivory. A tiny nick to the base of one of pawns of the red stained side the first.
